A Picture From Almost Three Years Ago
Rough life. This was in Issaquah, and this is pretty much what life looks like in Paducah, too. When I'm not running around, watching squirrels, and whatnot.
Where I Have Been
From Lainey:
About three years ago, I moved to Kentucky with my person's friend Rachel. She has lots of other dogs, as well as lots of cats and horses. She even has birds. So I have been very busy and having a great time, and I have not had time to write anything here.
My person says he misses me a lot. What a putz. He is free now! But I know he also feels good for me, because he knows I was not very happy living at his house, and now I have so many friends to play with all day. And Rachel is a sucker and treats all the animals living with her so well that I am the luckiest dog in the world! Or one of them, along with Pea and Daisy and Molly and Bridgette and Nikita and. . .

Cute?
When my person and I go out for a walk, all the girl people we encounter say, "What a cute dog!" I think they are talking about me. For one, they are looking at me when they say it. Second, although my person is kind of a dog, he certainly is not cute. And third, they scratch my head or my chin, not my person's.
So I must be cute! What does "cute" mean? Is it a good thing?

The Vet
I had my first visit to the veterinarian yesterday since coming home. My person was pretty nice about it, and the doctor was nice, too. Her name was Christina. She was only mean to me once, when she took my temperature. I didn't like that, and I don't plan to do it again.

Doggy Day Camp and the iPhone 5
Today I started Doggy Day Camp! It was so much fun. I made a new friend. His name is Ollie, and I am really looking forward to seeing him again tomorrow. I can't tell you much more about my day though. You know what they say: What happens in Doggy Day Camp stays in Doggy Day Camp!
My person and I were listening to the radio after we got home from our walk tonight. They were talking about the new iPhone 5 and how wonderful it is. What is all the fuss? I don't understand. I have gone my whole life without a phone and I am perfectly happy. Hmmm, I wonder whether Ollie has a phone. Maybe if he does, it would be good for me to have an iPhone, too. Then we could talk when we are not at Doggy Day Camp. Maybe I need a phone after all! I will ask my person to get me a holster to hold it. (What do you expect? I have no opposable thumbs!)

Football and Doggy Day Camp
I did not have a chance to post to my blog yesterday. My person was hogging the computer -- something about having work to do. Whatever that means. We were watching football, too, and I don't think he was very happy about it. I don't understand what all the fuss is about. A bunch of people wearing funny clothes running into one another. . .
Today was my last day I have to stay in the bathroom all day while my person is away -- something about that work thing again. Tomorrow, I start going to something called "Doggy Day Camp." Apparently I get to play with other dogs all morning, have some lunch, then play with other dogs all afternoon. And I get to do that every day while my person is doing that work thing! I am very excited.
My person heard from one of his old bosses today. His name is Biff. It sounds like things are going well with him. He is "semi-retired," which I think means he'll take work when he can get it. Haha, there's that "work" thing again! Anyway, Biff has worked hard and does not really need to do that anymore, so he can semi-retire. I think my person is very envious of Biff right now. He had better be careful. I ready somewhere that "envy" is one of the Seven Deadly Sins. OK, I didn't really read it, since I can't read, but somebody told me about it and it is clear my person had better be careful.

Day 2
I took my person for a walk twice today, and I think I may take him for one more short one this evening. My excitement for today was meeting a big brown dog this morning during one of our walks. Almost as exciting was eating a radio, which was good and crunchy. My person said something about how he used to wear it on his head, over his ears, and listen to other people talking or singing. I think I did him a favor by eating it though: he might have enjoyed listening to those other people, but there is no way he could look even a little bit normal wearing that thing on his head. I hope he appreciates how I am looking out for him already. How did he ever get along without me?
My person also watched some football with me today. I have never watched football before, but I had heard many good things about it. Well, I'm not really seeing what the excitement is all about. I guess I will let my person keep watching it, but I will stick with meeting big brown dogs and eating consumer electronics for my excitement.
Oh no, my person just walked into the room with another one of those radios. He had two of them? Admittedly, this one is a bit smaller and does not look quite as bad on his head as I think the other must have (before I ate it). Well, if it keeps him happy while I am taking him out for a walk, I guess it will be OK. I hope nobody I know takes their people out for walks in this neighborhood, too.
It is dinner time now, so I had better let my person know. As I wrote yesterday, he is a bit of a goofbag and, if I don't remind him to get my dinner, I might starve. That would be a bad thing.

Hi
My name is Lainey, and I'm home now.
I am three years old -- or maybe five years old, depending on who you talk to -- and I grew up in Stockton, California. If you do not know where Stockton, California actually is, I'm afraid I cannot help you. I'm a dog and I'm not very good at geography. If you really need to know, leave a comment and I will try to find out.
Somewhere along the line, I lost my people in Stockton and, yada yada yada, I found myself living in a foster home in Issaquah, Washington. (No, that is not a typo; "Issaquah" is a real place!) That is where Mya and her family live, and they took good care of me for several weeks. I especially liked Mya's daughter, who was always really nice to me.
Mya had two other dogs though, so I could not stay there forever. That guy came along today and took me to his home, also in Issaquah, Washington. It looks like I have a new person now. He seems to be a bit of a goofbag, but he means well. We'll see how this goes.
My new person has this box with several rows of buttons on it. I found out if I walk on the buttons just right, these letters appear on another part of the box. My new person got very excited when I started doing this, so I decided to keep going.
I'm kind of tired right now, so I will sign off for now. I will come back tomorrow and walk on the box again.
Chow for now!
